GIRLS BASKETBALL: GELINGER POURS IN 25, LADY RAIDERS DEFEAT SUSQUEHANNA (2025-02-12)

NEW MILFORD - The Lady Raiders notched their tenth win of the season on senior night Wednesday. They recorded double digits in every quarter, with 10 different players scoring points in the game, rolling to the 58-40 victory over Susquehanna.

Blue Ridge outscored the Lady Sabers 12-8 in the first quarter. Abi Gelinger and Lynndee Barbour scored five points apiece, senior Emma Button added a pair.

Lauren Huyck buried a three, tallying five points in the stanza for Susquehanna. Adrianna Rockwell made a basket and Cassie Cottrell added a free throw.

The Lady Sabers scored 13 points in the second, Marley Smith drained a three and a two pointer. Cottrell and Esther Davis were both a perfect two for two at the line, Rockwell chipped in with two points.

Gelinger went an impressive six for six from the stripe, totaling eight points in the period. Abby Piechocki contributed with four points, Kate Scott canned a three. At the halftime intermission they were up 27-21.

The Blue Ridge defense frustrated the Lady Sabers after the break, with Huyck connecting on a shot from behind the arc for the only Susquehanna points in the third.

Senior Patience Luce, Gelinger and Scott each drained a three pointer, with Gelinger notching nine points in the third. 

Mel Bloomer chipped in with two points, Addison Welch converted a free throw. As the Raiders lead ballooned to 21 points with an 18 point uprising in the third.

The Lady Sabers outscored Blue Ridge 16-13 in the fourth. Huyck sank a pair of three pointers and free throw, Burke scored five points and Cottrell added three.

Barbour paced the Lady Raiders offense with five points in the final frame, Gelinger hit another shot from behind the arc.

Hailey Carpanetti scored two points, Scott, Welch and Payton Perrington each scored a point. When it was over Blue Ridge was the victor 58-40.

Gelinger poured in a game high 25 points, Barbour finished with 10, Scott notched seven points, Piechocki had four. 

Luce chipped in with three points, Welch, Bloomer, Carpanetti and Button had a pair apiece, Perrington added a point.

Huyck led the Lady Sabers offense with 16 points, Burke notched seven, Cottrell finished with six, Smith tallied five, Rockwell added four and Davis pitched in with two.
