MONTROSE - The senior legion team from Post 154 hosted a twin billing against the senior legion team from Abington Thursday night. The two teams played a pair of five inning games, alternating home and away.
Unfortunately for Montrose they came out on the short end of two well played games, dropping the first game 1-0, followed by a 3-0 defeat in the nightcap.
Matt Callender took the tough luck loss in the first game. He allowed just one run on three hits and a pair of walks, while striking out five.
Abington starter J.P. Kehoe was nearly un-hittable, allowing just two hits and a walk to go with 12 strikeouts.
Ziggy Bradford and Riley Jagger had the only hits for the Mountaineers.
Jordan Jagger started on the bump for the Mountaineers in the second game. He struck out four in his three innings of work, allowing three runs on five hits.
Noah Gesford pitched a perfect inning of relief, striking out a batter in the process.
Abington got another complete game shutout, this time from Carson Bird. He struck out eight and allowed five hits.
Bradford, R. Jagger, Chase Harman, Travis Rooney and Noah Gesford each had a hit, with Gesford's being a double.
With the pair of losses the Mountaineers fall to 3-3 on the season.They return to action on Monday as they travel to West Scranton to take on Post 920.
