LEGION BASEBALL: CHRIS McGEE & JORDAN JAGGER COMBINE FOR NO-HITTER AS POST 154 WINS SEASON OPENER (2025-05-29)

MONTROSE - The Montrose Mountaineers Post 154 Senior Legion team played its season opener Thursday evening against West Scranton Post 920. The local squad got a combined no-hitter from Chris McGee and Jordan Jagger as they rolled to the 10-0 victory.

McGee coming off a solid senior campaign, picked up right where he left off, hurling four innings, striking out six, while walking three.

Jagger worked the final two innings, sitting four batters down via the strikeout.

Ziggy Bradford led the bottom of the first off with a single and later scored on a single from Andrew Dovin. Lukas Cokely reached on an error, scoring Dovin to make it 2-0.

West Scanton loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the second, but McGee got a strikeout to end the scoring threat.

The Mountaineers broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth, pushing seven runs across in the frame.

Patrick McComb, Will Marcy and Noah Gesford were each hit by a pitch to load the bases with nobody out.

Mark Hawk drew the bases loaded walk to score McComb. Matt Callender stroked a RBI single that scored Marcy.

Gehrig Dibble then stepped to the plate and found the left centerfield gap, racing around the bases for the always exciting inside the park home run, grand slam style.

After Dovin reached on an error Riley Jagger laced a run scoring double as Post 154 took a 9-0 lead after four innings.

J. Jagger came on in relief of McGee in the fifth and struck out the side on just 11 pitches.

The Mountaineers ended the game under mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth, when McComb singled home Dibble to give them the 10-0 season opening win.

Bradford led the Mountaineers eight hit attack with a pair of singles, he also scored two runs.

Dibble and Dovin scored a pair of runs, Dibble drove in four with his homer run, while Dovin had  one RBI.

McComb and Callender each had a hit, scored a run and drove one in. R. Jagger had a RBI single, while Chase Harman had the other hit for Post 154.

Gesford and Marcy each scored a run, while Hawk got an easy RBI drawing the bases loaded walk.

The Mountaineers return to action on Monday, June 2 as they travel to Post 948 to take on the District 11 American Legion squad.
