SCRANTON - Elk Lake crowned four different district champions in five events at the PIAA District II Track and Field Championships, held the past two evenings at Scranton Memorial Stadium.
Kendel Jones was a two time winner, capturing gold in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:19.43. Teammate Cody Adams finished right behind him, taking silver crossing at 4:26.52.
Jones (9:27.16) also won the 3200 meter run while Adams (9:43.93) and Parker Upright (10:00.61) took fourth and seventh respectively.
Senior Katie McGlynn won the shot put with a heave of 34 feet seven inches, beating teammate Gianna Tewksbury by just a half of a foot.
Tewksbury dominated the Discus, claiming gold with a toss of 124 feet, one inch. Gianna Miranda placed seventh with a throw of 87 feet even.
Kendyl Weisgold rounded out the gold medal winners for the Warriors, the freshman won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:16.79.
Brent Drost (53.80) took eighth in the 400 meter dash, while Jones brought home a silver medal in the 800 meter run. Drost also placed seventh in the triple jump at 38 feet, 6.5 inches.
Freshman Brody Crissman (45.72) brought home a seventh place finish in the 300 meter hurdles and then cleared 6 foot, one inch to take fourth in the high jump.
The boys 4x800 relay team, consisting of Jones, Adams, Parker Upright and Whalen Kinney captured a silver medal crossing the finish line at 8:25.32.
Freshman Madison Kerr (1:07.36) placed seventh in the 400 meter dash, while fellow freshman Kylee Pond (2:35.07) was eighth in the 800 meter run.
The Lady Warriors foursome of Weisgold, Kerr, Pond and Erica MGlynn also claimed silver in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:37.92.
