SPRINGVILLE - The Elk Lake Lady Warriors celebrated senior night by clinching their fifth consecutive Lackawanna League Division III title with a 14-4 win over Forest City Monday evening.
Leah Traver had three hits, including a pair of doubles to lead the Lady Warriors 13 hit barrage, with seven being of the extra base variety.
After Marissa Horn struck the Lady Foresters out in order to start the game, she led the bottom of the first off with a triple and scored on a Traver single.
With the Lady Warriors up 2-0, Lydia Howell laced a one out triple to start a three run rally in the bottom of the second.
Hannah Howell scored courtesy runner Erin Burke with a single, Traver would later plate two more with a double as their lead swelled to 5-0.
Forest City has their best offensive inning in the top of the fourth, using three hits and taking advantage of an Elk Lake error to make it 5-4.
The Lady Warriors responded with three runs of their own in the home half to get the lead back to four.
Elk Lake would score six runs without an out in the fifth to end it under mercy rule, with the final score 14-4.
Horn got the win in the circle, striking out a dozen in her five innings of work. She gave up four runs - two earned, on three hits and three walks.
Traver (3-4) had a pair of doubles and scored three times, while driving in a team best four runs.
Horn (2-2) had a double and a triple to go with a RBI. H. Howell (2-3) scored a trio of runs and drove one in. L. Howell (2-3) also notched a multi hit game, including a triple.
Brynn Warriner and Aleece Greenley each smacked a triple, Greenley drove in a pair, while Warriner drove one in and scored one.
Taylor Traver and Maddy Ely each had a single, while T. Traver scored a run.
