FOREST CITY - The game was a bit closer than the score reflected at the end of the game Friday evening in Forest City. Montrose scored nine of their 13 runs in the final three innings to beat the Lady Foresters 13-5.
Claire Lombardi got the Lady Meteors in order to start the game. Forest City scored a run without a hit in the bottom of the first for the 1-0 lead.
Alyse Legg hit a one out single in the second, then scored when Jocelyn Traver stroked a two out double to tie the game at one.
It looked as though the Lady Meteors would go quietly in the third as Lombardi recorded two quick outs.
However Cara Evans worked a walk to extend the inning, followed by a single from MycKenna Kublo. Violet Conning crushed a three run homer to centerfield to give her team a 4-1 lead.
The Lady Foresters plated a couple runs of their own in the bottom of the third, collecting a pair of hits and a walk.
Montrose got a pair of extra base hits and a couple singles to push across four more runs in the top of the fifth.
Forest City would again answer with a pair of runs to get back within three runs at 8-5.
Montrose tallied five hits and took advantage of a couple Forest City errors to score five runs and put the game out of reach in the seventh.
Traver worked around a one out walk to keep Forest City off the scoreboard in the bottom half, giving the Lady Meteors a 13-5 win.
Traver tossed 114 pitches to pick up the win, striking out a pair in her seven innings of work. She allowed five runs - three earned on three hits and eight walks.
M. Kublo (3-5) and Legg (3-5) led the Lady Meteors 13 hit attack, each scoring a pair of runs and driving one in.
Conning (2-4) provided the thunder with big home run. She had four RBI's and scored twice. Evans(2-4) had a double, scored twice and drove a run home.
Kylesie Kublo (1-5) and Traver (1-4) each cracked a double and scored a run, while K. Kublo had a pair of RBI's and Traver had one.
Hannah Fearnley (1-3) scored a pair of runs and drove in two, as Allison Jennings scored a run.
