KINGSLEY - Mountain View pushed seven runs across in the first two innings, then held off a late charge by the Tigers of Tunkhannock to notch the 9-8 victory at home Monday evening.
Jordan Jagger allowed a walk on five pitches to start the game, but then settled down, fanning a pair of batters in the frame.
Ziggy Bradford stroked a single to start the bottom half of the first. The next three batters walked for the Eagles, allowing Bradford to score.
Jackson Gesford then brought in three runners with a single and an error in right field. Blake Norton scored Gesford with a groundout to make it 5-0.
Bradford found himself on base to start the bottom of the second as he drew a five pitch walk. He would later score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jordan Jagger.
Tanner Holtsmaster kept the inning alive with a two out double, Bain followed with a single to score Holtmaster and give the Eagles a 7-0 advantage.
The Tigers broke the ice with four runs in the third, scoring all four runs with two outs to cut the Mountain View lead to three.
Tunkhannock added another run in the fifth using a pair of singles, scoring their run on a wild pitch.
The Eagles got that run back in the bottom of the fifth, with Jeremiah Tweed walking and later scoring on a wild pitch to get the lead back to three at 8-5.
They added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, after Josh Miller reached on an error and came around to score on a wild pitch.
The insurance run proved to be the difference as the Tigers scored three runs, but the Eagles got a huge out at third in the inning to help preserve the 9-8 victory.
Bradford was the only Eagle to record multiple hits in the contest, he also scored a pair of runs.
Holtsmaster doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair, while Gesford singled to drive in a pair and scored once.
Hudson Bain singled and drove in a run, while Tweed singled and scored a run. Aidan McCloskey also had a hit. Miller scored a pair of runs, while Jagger and Norton each drove one in.
Jagger notched the win on the mound, fanning seven in his four and two-thirds innings of work. He allowed five runs - three earned on five hits and six walks.
Bain worked two innings, striking out three. He surrendered three runs - two earned on three hits and a pair of walks. Miller came in to get the final out and the save.
