COVINGTON TWP - It was a memorable night for Elk Lake's Gianna Tewksbury at the Walter J. Godek Twilight Invitational at North Pocono High School Thursday. Tewksbury launched a throw of 116'-9" in the discus, shattering the Elk Lake school record in the process.
The Walter J. Godek invitational featured 27 teams from around the area, with competition continuing well into the night.
Tewksbury would take home the silver medal in the event as Crestwood's Hope Kline bested her by just four inches to take home first place.
Gianna Miranda also finished 12th for the Lady Warriors in the Discus with a throw of 89 feet.
Katie McGlynn captured a bronze medal in the shot put, with a throw of 32 feet nine inches. Tewksbury finished sixth throwing 30 feet nine inches.
