BASEBALL: BRAYDON McMICKEN POUNDS OUT FIVE EXTRA BASE HITS AS ELK LAKE BEATS CARBONDALE (2025-04-16)

SPRINGVILLE - Elk Lake brought their bats Wednesday afternoon against Carbondale, as the Warriors pounded put 17 hits on their way to a 20-4 four inning mercy rule victory over the Chargers.

Carbondale tagged starting pitcher Braydon McMicken with three runs on four hits in the top of the first to take the early lead.

However Elk Lake would tally nine hits in the home half of the inning on their way to 11 runs. McMicken stroked a double and a triple in the first.

John Heitsman replaced McMicken on the mound in the second as the Chargers got a run back to make it 11-4.

McMicken doubled and later scored on an Alden Felker RBI groundout as the Warriors got their lead back to eight.

Heitsman retired Carbondale in order in the third, thanks to a 6-4-3 double play turned by Logan Ayotte and Cohen Orlandini.

The Warriors put the game out of reach in the bottom of the third with five runs. Dawson Sherman, Ayotte and Heitsman all singled in the inning.

McMicken smacked his third double of the game as their lead swelled to 17-4.

McMicken delivered his second triple of the game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth to get the walk off 20-4 mercy rule win.

McMicken led the attack with five hits, while driving in six runs and scoring twice. 

Felker, Sherman, Ayotte, Orlandini and Heitsman all had a pair of hits. Orlandini had four RBI's and scored three runs.

Sherman and Ayotte each scored twice, Ayotte also drove in a pair of runs. Brayden Miller and Noah Gesford each had a hit and a pair of runs driven in. Miller scored twice, Gesford once.

Felker and Heitsman each drove in a run, Heitsman and Devin Lawrence each scored once.

McMicken pitched the first inning, striking out a batter. He allowed three runs on four hits.

Heitsman worked the final three innings, striking out four. He surrendered one run on one hit and three walks.
