SOFTBALL: ELK LAKE CRUISES TO VICTORY OVER BLUE RIDGE (2025-04-11)

SPRINGVILLE - Elk Lake pushed 10 runs across the plate in their first at bat Friday afternoon. They would need only four at bats to get the 15-0 shutout win over Blue Ridge.

Marissa Horn continued her dominance on the mound, surrendering just a hit and a walk, while fanning seven Lady Raiders.

Abby Piechocki smacked a one out double in the top of the first for the lone Blue Ridge hit, but she was stranded in scoring position.

In the home half of the inning the Lady Warriors saw their first six batters reach base on free passes, with five via the walk and hit by pitch. 

Celeste Clark collected the first Elk Lake hit of the game on a line drive to right field, scoring Aleece Greenley and Maddie Ely putting the Lady Warriors up 5-0.

Lydia Howell followed with single up the middle scoring Taylor Traver and Clark. Brynn Warriner later scored Hannah Howell with a sacrifice fly.

Ely plated the final two runs of the inning with a single to right that scored Horn and Leah Traver.

The Lady Warriors would strike with four more runs in the bottom of the third. Horn and L. Traver led off with back to back singles.

Warriner drove Horn home with a single, then Traver scored on a groundout off the bat of Greenley to make it 12-0.

Ely reached on an error that scored Warriner, she would later score on an RBI groundout off the bat of T. Traver.

Horn struck out the side in order in the top of the fourth, meaning the Lady Warriors could end it with one run in the home half of the inning.

L. Howell led things off with a single, she would eventually score on a single from L. Traver to end the game under mercy rule 15-0.

Horn, L. Traver and L. Howell each tallied a pair of hits. Traver drove in a run and scored three times, Horn scored a run and Howell drove in a pair.

Ely drove in a team best four runs, she had one hit and scored two runs. Warriner had a hit, with two runs batted in and two runs scored.

Clark also had a hit with two runs batted in and a run scored. Greenley and T. Traver each drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Piper Keeney scored two runs, while H. Howell crossed home safely once.

Piechocki had a double for the only Blue Ridge hit, Trista Laude also reached base safely with a  walk.

Liberty Post got the start in the circle, but she failed to record an out. She gave up six runs on five walks.

Laude came on in relief throwing 3.1 innings. She gave up nine runs - six earned on nine hits and two walks, while striking out a batter.
