SOFTBALL: MYCKENNA KUBLO SMACKS FOUR HITS; MONTROSE HAMMERS BLUE RIDGE (2025-04-04)

HALSTEAD - Montrose started slow, but finished strong scoring 15 runs in a huge fifth inning to down the Blue Ridge Raiders 21-4 Friday evening. McyKenna Kublo had four hits and four runs batted in to lead the Lady Meteors.

Liberty Post worked a scoreless first inning, working around a one out walk for the Lady Raiders. 

Abby Piechocki started the bottom of the first with a walk, followed by a Hailey Carpenetti single and a Mel Bloomer walk to load the bases with nobody out.

Peyton Rutter scored Piechocki with a one out single. Kuiper was hit by a pitch forcing Carpenetti home., Bloomer and Rutter scored on a wild pitches to give Blue Ridge the 4-0 lead.

Montrose tied it with four runs of their own in the top of the second. Alyse Legg, Rori Gurn and Hannah Fearnley each walked to load the bases with nobody out.

Jocelyn Traver scored Legg with a single, Krisalyn Welch walked to force Gurn home to make it 4-2. Cara Evans and M. Kublo each hit a single to drive in a run to tie it at four.

Welch gave the Lady Meteors the 5-4 lead with an RBI groundout in the top of the third. Legg drove home Evans in the fourth  to make it 6-4.

In the fifth inning Montrose put the game away with a 15 run uprising. Traver worked around an error, tossing a scoreless fifth inning, ending the game with Montrose victorious 21-4.

Traver got the win in the circle, hurling 4.1 innings, giving up three runs- one earned, on one hit, two walks and a strikeout.

Post was saddled with the loss, giving up 10 runs in four innings of work, allowing six hits and 10 walks to go with a pair of strikeouts.

M. Kublo pounded out four hits, to lead a 13 hit barrage for Montrose. Evans and Traver each had a pair of hits.

Kyleise Kublo, Violet Conning, Legg, Gurn and Welch each notched a hit. With Welch, Evans and the Kublo sisters each hitting a double.

M. Kublo drove in four runs, Welch and Evans drove in three apiece, while K. Kublo, Legg and Fearnley each had a pair. Conning, Gurn and Traver all had one.

Evans, Fearnley and Traver each scored three runs. While the Kublo's, Conning, Legg, Gurn and Welch scored a pair of runs apiece.

Carpenetti, Rutter, Trista Laude and #12 each had a hit for the Lady Raiders. Rutter and Kuiper each drove in a run. Piechocki, Carpenetti, Bloomer and Rutter each scored a run.
