SOFTBALL: HUGE FOURTH INNING FOR WYALUSING SINKS BLUE RIDGE (2025-03-29)

WYALUSING - A huge 10 run fourth inning for Wyalusing, turned a once three run Blue Ridge lead into a seven run deficit. As the Lady Rams scored 14 unanswered runs to down the Lady Raiders 16-5 in six innings on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning. Liberty Post sat the Lady Rams down in order  with two pop outs and a groundout.

Addison Fluck worked around a pair of walks to keep the Lady Raiders off the board in the top of the second.

Wyalusing loaded the bases with nobody out to start the bottom half of the second. Post would get an infield fly to get the first out with no damage.

She walked the next batter on four pitches to force home the first run of the game. After a strikeout, Post would hit a batter, forcing home another run to make it 2-0 Lady Rams.

Abby Piechocki and Hailey Carpenetti drew back to back walks to start the top of the third for the Lady Raiders.

Mel Bloomer smashed a 2-0 pitch to centerfield for a run scoring double. Hailey Champang got Carpenetti home with an infield single.

Peyton Rutter scored Bloomer on a RBI groundout to the shortstop for the third Blue Ridge run of the inning. Champang then swiped home with two outs to give them the 4-2 lead.

Post got two quick strikeouts to start the home half of the third, before the Lady Rams loaded the bases. Post would induce the groundout to Bloomer ending the potential Wyalusing rally.

Bloomer hit a one out single on the first pitch of her at bat, scoring Piechocki from second to put the Lady Raiders in front 5-2.

Disaster would strike in the bottom of the fourth for Blue Ridge however, as they committed five errors on defense and issued seven free passes, allowing the Lady Rams to plate 10 runs on just one hit.

Kylie Pickett and Cali Warner would combine to strikeout the Lady Raiders in order in the top half of the fifth.

Post was able to keep the Lady Rams off the scoreboard in the home half as she worked around a leadoff single and a one out walk.

Blue Ridge got a leadoff walk from Cheyanne Kuiper to start the sixth, then Carpenetti connected for a one out single. However Warner would get double play to end the inning.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth the Lady Rams ended the game when Kenda Millard drove in three to get the 16-5 mercy rule victory.

Bloomer led the Lady Raiders at the plate with a double and a single, while driving in a pair of runs and scoring once.

Champang had a hit, with a run scored and a run batted in. Rutter also drove in a run for the Lady Raiders.

Carpenetti had a hit, walked once and scored a run, while Piechocki walked three times and scored twice.

Post went the distance in the circle for Blue Ridge. She gave up 16 runs - three earned, on seven hits and 11 walks to go with eight strikeouts.
