MUNCY - The Lady Warriors traveled to Muncy for their first round matchup with the District IV champion Muncy Indians. It was a back and forth affair throughout the contest, but when the final buzzer sounded, Elk Lake was the 42-35 victor.

The Lady Warriors have been itching to get back on the court, after falling in the District II final last Friday at the Arena.

Elk Lake head coach Meghan Casselbury knew the desire was there, "The girls wanted it. We were down and then tied at half. They overcame adversity throughout the game. Tonight they were so hungry for a win."

Muncy jumped out to the early lead, outscoring Elk Lake 14-11 in the opening quarter of the contest.

Katie McGylnn scored six of her team high 14 points in the opening eight minutes. Leah Traver added a bucket and a foul shot, Marissa Horn also scored a bucket.

Elk Lake would best the Lady Indians by three points in the second quarter to tie things up heading into the break.

Madi Casselbury paced the Lady Warriors offense with six points and went coast to coast for a huge layup to tie it just before intermission.

Traver notched five points in the second, McGlynn and Kylie Shingler each made one from the foul line. At the break it was all knotted up at 24 apiece.

Muncy would come out after the break and outscore Elk Lake 10-6 in the third quarter. McGlynn tallied all six points for the Lady Warriors.

With their backs against the wall and their season on the line Coach Casselbury's team executed perfectly on the defensive side, holding Muncy without a field goal in the final period.

Offensively it was Shingler coming up clutch for the Lady Warriors, burying a pair of field goals and going a perfect four of four at the stripe.

Casselbury chipped in with a bucket, Traver and McGlynn each converted a free throw. Helping the Lady Warriors close the game on a 12-1 run.

When the final horn sounded it was the Lady Warriors securing the state tournament victory, punching their ticket to the sweet 16 with the 42-35 win.

McGlynn finished with a team high 14 points, got a little emotional when she fouled out late in the game, but was proud of how her team finished.

"It was such an exciting game. I got the ball a lot in my hands tonight and was finishing, thanks to my teammates, they're my rock. Everyone came out for a fight and played as a team. I was emotional when I fouled out and it was still a close game, but my teammates and coaches had my back and encouraged me and won the game. I'm so proud of them. All glory to God for the talent He's given our team," the senior said.

Shingler tallied nine points, including eight huge fourth quarter points to help lead her team to victory.

The junior was happy to contribute to the win, "after some early turnovers and missed shots, I was glad to be able to help my team out. Celeste brought us a ton of needed energy and made some big plays. Once we took the lead, I was confident we would win with the ball in Madi's hands."

Traver also totaled nine points and is proud of the effort her team has put in, "It feels good to get this win. We have worked hard this season to get this far."

Casselbury contributed with eight points and Horn chipped in with a pair to round out the Lady Warriors scoring effort.

Muncy got a game high 16 points from Ava Eyer, while Addison Eyer added nine points to pace the Lady Indians offensive attack.
