DISTRICT WRESTLING: HUNSINGER JUST MISSES TRIP TO REGIONALS WITH FOURTH PLACE FINISH FOR WARRIORS (2025-02-22)

WILKES-BARRE - The Warriors had four wrestlers still alive Saturday morning, with Hunter Hunsinger(133) in the semifinals and Brent Drost(121), Colby Ruark(189) and Nathaniel Thurman(215) still alive in the consolation bracket.

Hunsinger was pinned in his semifinal match by Brody Woods of Tunkhannock just as the first period was expiring. 

Hunsinger won an exciting consolation semifinal match over Honesdale's Sam Eisele, notching the 12-9 decision. The win put Hunsinger one win away from qualifying for regionals.

Sawyer Keller of Berwick pinned Hunsinger in the second period to end Hunsinger's season as the senior earned a respectable fourth place finish.

Drost started his day with a 10-0 major decision victory over Mason Veina of Valley View. In the consolation semifinal he lost a tough 2-0 decision to Jacob Wells of Western Wayne. Drost was pinned in his next match, settling for sixth place.

Ruark lost 16-0 to in his first match of the morning to the eventual third place finisher from Dallas Kenny Martin. Ruark finished a solid freshman campaign with 16 wins.

Thurman finished 2-1 on the day, good enough for fifth place. He won his first match by fall over Ashton Cook of Western Wayne in 2:07. 

River Morgan beat Thurman 7-2 in the consolation semifinal, however Thurman endED his season with a victory flattening Mason Mitchell of Valley View in 2:13 to claim fifth place.
