GIRLS BASKETBALL: AUBREY SANDERS BIG SECOND HALF & RILEY TURNER'S CLUTCH THREE SEND LADY EAGLES TO DISTRICT FINAL (2025-02-21)

KINGSLEY - Thirty two minutes wasn't enough time to decide a winner in an exciting semifinal game at J. William McGlaughlin Gymnasium Friday night. With the score tied 36-36 at the end of regulation.

Riley Turner broke a 38-38 tie in overtime burying a huge three from the right wing to catapult the Lady Eagles to the victory. 

Aubrey Sanders and Addison Kilmer each hit a pair of clutch free throws to ice it as Mountain View closed the overtime period on a 7-0 run to win it 45-38.

Addison Kilmer has played in plenty of big games in her career and was stoked after the win. "It was a great team win, I'm so proud of all my teammates in all the ways they stepped up. Getting back to the arena has been a goal of ours and we are very excited to face Elk Lake again."

The Lady Eagles led by a point after one, outscoring Seminary 10-9 in the first. Turner and Sanders each canned a three pointer, Turner and A. Kilmer each added another bucket.

Mountain View struggled to find the bottom of the net in the second, scoring just five points. Ryleigh Kilmer nailed a three and Emily Trichilo hit a pair of free throws. At the halftime intermission they trailed 17-15.

Sanders splashed one from behind the arc, and two from within totaling seven of the Lady Eagles nine third quarter points. Trichilo provided the other two points.

Thanks in large part to their defense it was tied 24-24 after 24 minutes as they only allowed the Lady Blue Knights to score seven points in the stanza.

Sanders and Kilmer each drained a triple in the fourth as the duo combined for all 12 Mountain View points in the frame. Sanders tallied seven points and A. Kilmer had five.

Wyoming Seminary also put up 12 points in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.

The Lady Eagles dominated the overtime period, outscoring Seminary 9-2 in the four minute period. 

A. Kilmer scored the first bucket in overtime, Turner hits the momentum changing three pointer, A. Kilmer and Sanders provided the daggers from the line as they punch their ticket to the Mohegan Sun Arena for the AA district final with a thrilling 45-38 overtime victory.

Mountain View head coach Corey Gesford was proud of how his team kept their composure down the stretch to preserve the victory.

"We responded to adversity rather than cave into it when the player control call we felt we got, went as a block and resulted in an and one opportunity for Seminary. Too often we've let stuff like that bother us, but tonight we moved on from it."

He was proud of how his captains rallied the troops and tipped his hat to Sanders on a great second half.

"Aubrey Sanders was brilliant in the second half and my captains led. Turner obviously makes the big three, but Ryleigh Kilmer dives after a loose ball and forces a big turnover late."

Sanders scored 16 of her team high 19 points after halftime to pace the Lady Eagles offense. A. Kilmer was also in double figures tallying 11 points, including a perfect four of four from the line.

Turner connected on a pair of threes in the contest, finishing with eight points, Trichilo added four points and R. Kilmer chipped in the three.

Ella Stambaugh poured in a game high 29 points for the Lady Blue Knights, Stella Ruiz had five points and Clare Griffin added four points.

With the victory the Lady Eagles guarantee themselves a trip to the PIAA State tournament regardless of the outcome in the finals next Friday. Where they will take on the Elk Lake Lady Warriors for the third time this season, but this time it's for the district title.
