SEVENTH GRADE BOYS: CONNOR WARD DROPS 22 POINTS AS METEORS WIN FINAL GAME OVER RAIDERS (2025-02-14)

NEW MILFORD - The Meteors seventh grade team ended their season with victory Friday afternoon. Connor Ward scored an eye popping 16 first quarter points and the Meteors played suffocating defense, steamrolling their way to a 45-12 victory over Blue Ridge.

Montrose jumped out to a huge lead using a 26 point scoring deluge in the first six minutes, while pitching a shutout on defense.

Ward scored his 16 points by knocking down eight field goals, Alex Arndt added two field goals and a free throw, Kolten Gesford chipped in with three points, Melvin Starzec had a pair.

Arndt scored four points in the second quarter, accounting for half of the Meteors points. Keith  Gregory and Corbin Purtell scored a pair apiece.

Blake Slocum scored the first bucket of the contest for the Raiders, Hayden Maginley converted one at the line. Heading into the halftime intermission it was 34-3.

Tyler Soden canned a pair of three pointers totaling all of the Raiders third quarter points, as they were outscored 8-6 in the stanza.

Ward and Gregory each made a two pointer and a foul shot, Arndt added a two pointer of his own. After 18 minutes of play the Meteors were up big 42-9.

Each team scored three points in the final frame, Maginley scored two points for the Raiders, David Stone added the other.

Ward again scored a bucket and a foul shot for the Montrose points in the stanza as they coasted to the 45-12 win to end their season.

Ward finished with a game high 22 points, Arndt tallied 11, Gregory added five, Gesford had three, Purtell and Starzec chipped in with two points apiece.

Soden paced the Raiders with six points, Maginley notched three points, Slocum pitched in with a pair and Stone had a point.
