EIGHTH GRADE BOYS: JACK PARKS SCORES 29 POINTS, RAIDERS DOWN METEORS FOR EIGHTH GRADE TITLE (2025-02-14)

NEW MILFORD - Blue Ridge hosted Montrose for the eighth grade league title Friday afternoon. The Raiders took advantage of early miscues from the Meteors to build a double digit lead at the half. Jack Parks poured in 17 points in the first half, added 12 more in the second for a game high 29.

The Raiders allowed Sawyer Aukema to record an uncontested layup after the opening tip as the injured Meteor played his final junior high game. Montrose returned the favor on the other end as Falkenberg was afforded the easy bucket.

The Raiders outscored the Meteors 17-4 throughout the remainder of the first quarter. Parks buried a three and a quartet of two pointers, totaling 11 points.

Keegan Glasgow hit a three pointer of his own, Jax Decker scored a bucket and Joey Allen added a free throw.

Evan Strohl sank a two pointer and Liam MacNamee converted both of his attempts at the line. After six minutes the Meteors dug themselves a 13 point hole.

Logan Rhinevault helped his team cut that lead to 10 before the half, notching nine points while going five of six from the stripe.

Strohl finished a three point play at the line after being fouled on a nice take and finish. Mooney added a point at the line just before the half.

Parks nailed a trio of two point field goals, Allen added two of his own totaling all 10 of the Raiders second quarter points, heading into the locker room they were up 29-19.

The Raiders offense slowed after the break, with Parks scoring all seven points, canning a three and a pair of two pointers.

MacNamee put up seven points for the Meteors in the same fashion, hitting one behind the arc and a pair inside. Rhinevault chipped in with a pair, after three his team trailed 36-28.

MacNamee added another seven points in the fourth quarter, this time with two buckets and three free throws. Rhinevault notched a a bucket and a free throw to round out the Meteors offense.

Parks drained his third shot of the game from behind the arc and added another two pointer. Glasgow scored the final bucket of the contest for the Raiders.

When it was over the Raiders claimed the 43-38 victory as well as the eighth grade league title. Blue Ridge is coach by James Barbour who offered these comments after a great season.

"I am just extremely proud of how these boys played this year. They played extremely well as a team and didn't let anything in the way no matter what the situation we were in the game. They're just an absolutely awesome group of boys to coach."

Parks turned in a clutch 29 point performance to earn game high honors, he also had five steals, four boards and three assists.

Allen added six rebounds, five points, two steals and an assist. Glasgow also scored five points, adding a pair of caroms and an assist. Falkenberg and Decker each chipped in with a pair.

MacNamee recorded a double-double scoring a team high 16 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Rhinevault finished with a game high 18 rebounds and 14 points, for a double-double of his own.

Strohl chipped in with five points, five boards and three assists, Aukema scored two points and Mooney added a point to go with three boards and an assist.
