SUSQUEHANNA - The Sabers got off to a fast start in the JV contest Friday evening, pumping in 35 first half points, while their defense held the Raiders to just 13. The final two quarters were played more evenly, but the Sabers won their final game of the season 63-43.
Thomas Fremberg led the Susquehanna offense with eight points in the opening period. Chris Serra tallied a half dozen on three field goals.
Caedon Stone added two field goals of his own notching four points and Preston Wolf nailed a shot from behind the arc.
The Raiders were limited to just three two point field goals in the first. With Travis Rutter, Jacek Motyka and Matt Carey each knocking one down. After seven minutes they trailed by 15 points.
Wolf and Hunter Downton each canned a three pointer, helping the Sabers double up Blue Ridge 14-7 on the scoreboard in the second quarter.
Stone was a perfect two for two at the stripe. The trio of Spencer Ott, Liam Albert and Rusty Jones each hit a two pointer.
The Raiders again got buckets from Rutter, Motyka and Carey. Rutter added a free throw, but his team trailed 35-13 heading into the locker room.
Susquehanna had their worst offensive quarter in the third, but still managed 12 points.
Fremberg buried a three and a pair of two pointers to lead the way. Wolf drained his third triple of the game, Stone added a basket.
The Raiders started to climb back into the game with a 21 point outburst of their own in the third quarter.
Rutter went off for 12 points in the frame, pouring in a pair of three point field goals, a pair of two point field goals and a pair at the line.
Motyka tallied seven points, sinking own from downtown and hitting both his free throws along the way. Carey added the other basket, making the score after 21 minutes 47-34.
The Sabers ended any threats of a Raiders comeback with a 16 point uprising in the final frame. Stone connected on a pair of three balls to led the attack.
Ott made three out of four foul shots and scored a bucket totaling five points. Albert made a bucket and a free throw, Jones added a pair of free throws as well.
Joseph Baselli swished a three pointer, Matt Davis was a perfect two for two at the line. Rutter and Motyka each made a field goal.
When the final JV buzzer of the season sounded, it was the Sabers ending their season on a high note, winning by a final score of 63-43.
Fremberg paced the offense scoring a team high 15 points, Stone was right behind him tallying 14 points.
Wolf notched all nine of his points from behind the arc, Ott finished with seven points, Serra had six, Albert added five, Jones and Downton chipped in with four and three respectively.
Blue Ridge got a game high 19 point performance from Rutter, Motyka joined his teammate in double figures tallying 13 points.
Carey scored his six points from the field, Baselli recorded a three point field goal and Davis got both his points from the foul line.
