JV BOYS B-BALL: YOUNG WARRIORS SET THE TONE ON SENIOR NIGHT, TAKING CARE OF SABERS (2025-02-11)

SPRINGVILLE - The Warriors JV team used a very similar recipe as the varsity squad to defeat the Sabers. Finding themselves trailing at the half, only to come out and dominate the third quarter to secure victory, with the final in this one being 43-34.

The two teams were tied 8-8 after the first quarter, Jayden Hitchcock and Brendan Hewitt each buried a three pointer. Connor Stephens produced the other two Warrior points.

Preston Wolf and Chris Serra each drained a shot from behind the arc for the Sabers, Liam Albert was a perfect two for two at the line. 

Caedon Stone paced the Susquehanna offense in the second, knocking down a three and a pair of two pointers. Wolf and Serra each added a bucket.

Stephens notched a bucket and a free throw, Parker Upright added a two point field goal for the only Elk Lake points in the period. At the break they trailed the Sabers 19-13.

Trevor Upright led the third quarter charge for the Warriors offense, hitting a pair from the field and the foul line, tallying six of the Warriors 18 points in the frame.

Hewitt and Brayden Birtch connected on a pair of buckets apiece for four points. Stephens added a basket and a free throw, Hitchcock converted one at the line.

Stone and Wolf notched the only field goals for the Sabers, as Elk Lake ratcheted down their defense allowing just those four points and taking a 31-23 lead into the final quarter.

Serra paced Susquehanna in the fourth, going two for two from the stripe totaling six points in the frame. Wolf canned his second three of the game, Albert added a bucket.

Stephens took over in the final period to put things out of reach, accounting for eight of the Warriors 12 points. Hitchcock added a field goal and P. Upright made both his free throw attempts.

When the final horn sounded it was the Warriors taking the first of two well played games on Mike "Red" Wallace Court Tuesday night. Winning with a final score of 43-34.

Stephens scored eight of his game high 16 points in the fourth quarter, Hewitt finished with seven points.

The Warriors also got a half dozen apiece from T. Upright and Hitchcock. P. Upright and Birtch each chipped in with four points.

Serra and Wolf each tallied double figures to Susquehanna, With Serra leading the way with 11 points and Wolf right behind with 10. Stone just missed scoring nine points, Albert pitched in with four.
