BOYS BASKETBALL: WARRIORS OFFICIALLY LOCK UP LEAGUE TITLE DEFEATING SABERS 59-55 ON SENIOR NIGHT (2025-02-11)

SPRINGVILLE - The Warriors also held senior night festivities before their final home game Tuesday night. The Sabers held the halftime edge, but Elk Lake took the lead in the third and held on for the 59-55 win, locking up the league title in the process.

Susquehanna held a double digit lead after one, outscoring the Warriors 18-7 in the first. Linden Baker buried a three and a pair of two pointers scoring seven.

Jordan Burke and Griffin Fisk each notched four points, with Fisk and Mason Keyes each knocking down a three pointer.

The Warriors got four points from John Heitsman, senior Logan Ayotte added a bucket and a free throw. After eight minutes the Warriors trailed by 11.

Elk Lake bested the Sabers by four points in the second, Kendel Jones paced the offense draining a three point and two point field goal. The trio of Ayotte, Brayden Miller and Chase Pond scored three points apiece.

Keyes sank another three for Susquehanna, Fisk added three with a basket and foul shot. Burke and Hudson Stengel each chipped in with a pair. Heading to the intermission it was the Sabers up by seven, 28-21.

The Warriors turned their seven point deficit into a four point lead, outscoring Susquehanna 18-7 in the third quarter. 

Miller scored six points to led the Warrior attack, Pond and Heitsman each connected from behind the arc. Pond made another bucket to finish with five points, Ayotte added four points.

Fisk canned a three, Burke and Jaxon Downton each score two points. With eight minutes left, it was Elk Lake out in front 39-35.

The two teams combined for 40 points in the fourth quarter, with each team scoring 20 points. Keyes poured in nine points for the Sabers, Fisk added eight, Downton sank a three pointer.

Pond went off for 12 fourth quarter points, connecting on a pair from downtown. Sophomore Connor Stephens scored a bucket and was two for two at the stripe. Heitsman and senior Noah Gesford scored a pair of points apiece.

When it was finished the Warriors take home not only the 59-55 senior night victory, but the Lackawanna League Division III title as well. 

Pond led all scorers with a 20 point performance, Ayotte finished with 10 points. Miller and Heitsman tallied nine points each, Jones contributed with five, Stephens had four points and Gesford chipped in with two.

Fisk paced the Susquehanna offense, scoring 19 points, Keyes notched 14. Burke finished with eight points, Baker added seven, Downton had five points and Stengel pitched in with two.
