SusCo Sports Report
SPRINGVILLE - It was finally time for the long awaited PIAA District II AA semi-final game against Elk Lake and Old Forge. The Warriors bats came out on fire, opening the game with four consecutive singles, jumping out to the 4-0 lead.

Old Forge starting pitcher TJ DiMattia settled down and the Blue Devils offense took advantage of 14 free passes issued by a trio of Elk Lake pitchers, to come away with the 7-5 victory.

Elk Lake out hit the Blue Devils 12 to six, but Old Forge had traffic on the bases in every inning.

Walks were the achilles heel for the Warriors all game, they walked 11 batters total, including four to lead off the inning. With five of the walks eventually scoring.

Brayden Miller got the start for the Warriors, he issued a walk to Angelo DiMauro to open the game. He would later score on an RBI single from Frank Pero.

Braydon McMicken led the bottom of the first off with a single through the five and a half hole. Alden Felker followed with a single to center.

Noah Gesford then hit a single, to score McMicken. Dawson Sherman connected for a RBI single to put the Warriors on top 2-1.

After DiMattia recorded a pair of outs, Cohen Orlandini came through with a clutch two out single, scoring two more runs, putting the Warriors up 4-1.

Gesford gave up a double, followed by a walk and two hit batters as Old Forge plated a pair of runs to tie the game at four and still nobody out.

Gesford wiggled out of further trouble, getting a strikeout, a pop out to shallow right and a fielder's choice groundout to limit the damage.

DiMattia drew a leadoff walk to start the fourth and later scored on a groundout from Pero to reclaim the lead for the Blue Devils.

The Warriors loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but failed to score.

Old Forge capitalized on the momentum swing, scoring a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth on just one hit.

Orlandini singled to start the bottom half of the sixth and later scored on a RBI single from McMicken.

Felker followed with a double, then DiMattia opted to intentionally walk Gesford to load the bases.

Sherman swung at the first pitch and hit a liner to center, but it was hauled in by the centerfielder as Elk Lake left the bases loaded for the second straight inning.

Joe DiStasi came on to relieve DiMattia to start the seventh, retiring the Warriors in order, punching his team's ticket to the AA final with the 7-5 victory.

Miller lasted two innings, allowing three runs on two hit and five walks. Gesford worked the next two innings, surrendering two runs - one earned on two hits and three walks, while striking out a batter.

McMicken worked the final three innings for the Warriors. He allowed two unearned runs, on two hits and three walks, while fanning a pair.

McMicken, Felker and Gesford each recorded three hits, with Gesford and Felker belting doubles. Orlandini had a pair of singles and Sherman had one.
