PLAYOFF SOFTBALL: LADY WARRIORS BELT FOUR HOMERS AS THEY DOWN MONTROSE IN AA SEMIFINAL (2025-05-24)

ABINGTON - Elk Lake and Montrose squared off for the third time this season, but this time a trip to the district finals was at stake. The Lady Warriors brought their bats, slugging four homers and cruising to the 18-3 victory.
Elk Lake took control of the game early belting three first inning home runs and jumping out to an 8-0 advantage.
Horn notched another win on the mound and with her six strikeouts, she needs just two more for 500 in her outstanding career. She allowed three runs, on five hitS and a walk in four innings.
Kyleise Kublo led the game off with a single for the Lady Meteors, but Horn retired the next three batters, stranding a baserunner.
Horn drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first, before Brynn Warriner crushed a two run homer to left field.
After a pair of Lady Warriors reached on errors, Celeste Clark singled. A host of Montrose errors allowed three runs to score on the play.
Freshman Lydia Howell stepped to the plate and smashed a solo home run. Hannah Howell followed with a double, before Horn launched a two run bomb of her own to put her team ahead 8-0.
Elk Lake plated three more runs in the bottom of the second without a hit as Aleece Greenely, Maddy Ely and Clark each scored runs.
The Montrose bats came alive in the third as K. Kublo stroked a one out single, MycKenna Kublo followed with a two out double.
Senior Violet Conning delivered a RBI single, then Aylse Legg drove in two more with another Lady Meteor single to make it 11-3.
Elk Lake would get those three runs back however as Leah Traver and Ely each cracked a double for the Lady Warriors in the frame.
With the score 14-3 entering the bottom of the fourth, H. Howell and Horn each recorded one out singles.
After Howell scored on a wild pitch, Warriner drew a walk, setting the stage for Greenley to crush the final Lady Warrior homer run of the contest, ending the game with a score of 18-3.
Horn (2-3) and H. Howell (2-3) each recorded multi-hit games for the Lady Warriors. Horn crushed a homer, knocking in a pair and scoring a run, while H. Howell doubled and scored twice.
Greenley (1-2) drove in three runs with her homer run and scored three more. Warriner (1-3) also homered, driving in a pair and scoring two runs.
L. Howell (1-3) blasted a solo homer, while Traver (1-4) had a RBI double and scored a run. Clark (1-3) and Ely (1-2) each scored two runs and drove in another. Taylor Traver also had a RBI.
Jocelyn Traver started in the circle for Montrose, she pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing eight runs - two earned on five hits and a walk.
Allison Jennings came on in relief, pitching the final three innings. She gave up 10 runs - four earned on five hits and two walks, while striking out a batter.
K. Kublo (2-3) led the Lady Meteors at the plate with a pair of singles, she also scored a run. M. Kublo (1-2) smacked a double and scored a run.
Conning (1-2) drove home a run with a single and also scored a run, while Legg (1-2) drove in a pair of runs with her single.
With the win Elk Lake will advance to play Holy Redeemer at Marywood University at 1:00 on May 27th.
For the Lady Meteors it's the end of a solid season that saw them win 13 games and make a trip to the district semifinals.
