SOFTBALL: ELK LAKE'S MARISSA HORN SIGNS TO PLAY SOFTBALL AT LOCK HAVEN (2025-05-21)

SusCo Sports Report
SPRINGVILLE - Elk Lake senior Marissa Horn has put up some impressive stats throughout her career as a Lady Warrior. While the senior still hopes to compete at the high school level for a few more games, she will be taking her talents to Lock Haven in the fall.

Horn has been a stalwart in the circle for coach Blaisure, helping the Lady Warriors capture a district title last season and entering the tournament as the number one seed this year.

Horn was quick to mention her adoration for the program and her coaches,"Playing at Elk Lake has been an honor. Since I was in fifth grade, I wanted to play for Coach Blaisure and Murph, so for this being my last year it's been amazing. It's been the best four years of my life."

The senior needs just eight more strikeouts for a mind blowing 500 in her career, which is even more impressive when you consider she missed her entire sophomore year with a torn ACL.

To go along with her 492 strikeouts, Horn has an earned run average of just 1.405, while opponents are hitting just .133 against her.

On the offensive side she is just as dangerous, holding down the leadoff spot for the Lady Warriors. She has amassed a .458 career bating average, with 87 career hits, while belting a dozen home runs.

It is estimated that about 7.8 percent of high school softball players go on to play at the collegiate level.

Horn realizes it's not something to take lightly and she has put a ton of work in to get to this point. "Playing at the next level is such a great opportunity. I'm so excited to be apart of the Lock Haven softball team."

As for Lock Haven they are getting a proven winner, that can impact the game on multiple levels. Not to mention a great teammate, who realizes it's her supporting cast that makes it all work, "Thank you to my family, coaches and teammates for supporting me."
