PLAYOFF SOFTBALL: DUNMORE USES BIG SECOND INNING TO SINK BLUE RIDGE IN QUARTERFINALS (2025-05-19)

SusCo Sports Report
DUNMORE - The Lady Bucks pushed seven runs across in the second, then tacked on five more in the fourth as they defeated Blue Ridge 12-1 in the opening round of the PIAA District II playoffs on Monday evening.

Blue Ridge took an early lead, but Dunmore starter Paige Ancherani settled in, holding the Lady Raiders scoreless after the first inning.

The Lady Raiders committed eight defensive miscues, leading to 10 unearned runs and putting the game out of reach.

Hailey Carpenetti went the distance in the circle for Blue Ridge, striking out four Lady Bucks along the way. She allowed 12 runs - two earned on eight hits and two walks.

The Lady Raiders scored a run in the top of the first, Abby Piechocki led it off with a walk, followed by a Carpenetti single.

Hailey Champang worked a full count before cracking a single into left field, scoring Piechocki and giving her team the early 1-0 lead.

Carpenetti worked a perfect bottom of the first, before Ancherani matched her working a perfect top of the second for the Lady Bucks.

Dunmore used a half dozen hits and a pair of Blue Ridge errors to plate seven runs in the bottom of the second.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the fourth, when the Lady Bucks scored five runs on just two hits and four Lady Raider errors.

Blue Ridge needed to score a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to keep their season alive, but were retired in order as Dunmore picks up the 12-1 opening round mercy rule win.

Carpenetti, Champang and Peyton Rutter each singled for the only Blue Ridge hits in the game, while Piechocki scored their lone run.
