BASEBALL: CJ McGEE PITCHES MONTROSE TO VICTORY OVER LACKAWANNA TRAIL AT MIRABITO STADIUM (2025-05-13)

BINGHAMTON - Montrose squared off with Lackawanna Trail at Mirabito Stadium, the home of the AA Binghamton Rumble Ponies Wednesday evening. The Meteors jumped out to an early lead and held on for the 6-2 victory in their regular season finale.

Senior Cj McGee started on the bump, registering the win for Montrose and narrowly missing a complete game as Chase Harman came on to get the last out of the ball game.

McGee fanned a half dozen Lions in his six and two-thirds innings of work, allowing two runs - one earned, on four hits and a walk on 101 pitches.

Harman needed eight pitches to record the final out via the fielder's choice groundout to preserve the win for the Meteors.

Adam Sorensen singled leading off the bottom of the first and later scored on a dropped third strike that allowed Lukas Cokely to reach safely.

Hudson Aukema followed with a one out single, then McGee reached on an error allowing Cokely and Aukema to score as the Meteors held a 3-0 lead after one.

Montrose added another run in the second as Sorensen recorded his second single of the game. Kasey Carey brought him around with a run scoring double.

The Lions finally broke through with a run in the top of the fourth, Dwyer hit a leadoff double, then came around to score on a RBI single from Jervis.

Trail trimmed the Meteors lead to two, manufacturing another run in the fifth to make it 4-2.

Montrose was able to get that run back however, as Carey was hit by a pitch to start the bottom half. McGee scored him with a clutch two out single.

Carey drove in an insurance run with two outs in the sixth, pushing their lead to four runs with an inning to play.

McGee fanned the first two batters in the top of the seventh, before hitting his pitch limit. Harman then entered the game to record the final out, giving the Meteors the 6-2 victory.

Carey (2-3) led the Montrose offensive attack, smacking a double, while driving in a pair and scoring a run.

Sorensen (2-4) also recorded a multi hit game with a pair of singles, while scoring a couple runs.

McGee (1-2) had a trio of RBI's to go with his single, While Aukema (1-4) and Cokely each scored a run.

Harman (1-3) and Brander (1-3) rounded out the Meteors eight hit attack, while Keaton Kildare scored their other run.
