BASEBALL: OLD FORGE TALLIES LATE RUNS TO SINK MONTROSE (2025-05-08)

MONTROSE - Old Forge broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of runs in the fourth, then added runs to the board in every inning thereafter, cruising to the 10-1 victory over Montrose on Thursday evening.

The Blue Devils took advantage of a two out Montrose error to score a run in the first inning. For the Meteors it was their first of five errors in the ball game.

Montrose scratched across a two out run in the third, Sorensen drew the two out walk, stole second and scored on a single from Kasey Carey.

Old Forge immediately answered with a couple runs in the fourth. The Meteors loaded the bases in the bottom half, but failed to score.

The Blue Devils added a run in the fifth without a hit, making the score 4-1. They scored three more runs in the sixth on a pair of hits, extending their lead to six runs.

After Montrose went quietly in the bottom of the sixth, Old Forge put up another three spot, putting the game out of reach, capturing the 10-1 victory on the road.

Chris McGee got the start and the no decision. He struck out three in his three innings of work. He allowed one unearned run, on two hits and a walk.

Hudson Aukema came on in relief and was saddled with the loss. He pitched one and a third, allowing three runs - one earned, on one hit and a pair of walks.

Alex Stoddard worked the next inning on the bump, he surrendered three runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out a batter.

Andrew Brown pitched the final one and two thirds, fanning a trio of Blue Devils. He allowed three runs - one earned, on two hits and a walk.

McGee (2-2) led the Meteors offensively with a pair of singles. Carey (1-4) had the lone RBI.

Sorensen (1-2) had a single and scored the only Montrose run. While Lukas Cokely (1-3) and Chase Harman (1-3) also had a hit for the Meteors.
