DUNMORE - For the second consecutive night the Elk Lake Warriors were involved in a 2-1 pitchers duel. This time unfortunately they came out on the wrong end of the decision as they fell to Dunmore 2-1 Thursday evening.
Dunmore saw their first two batters of the game hit solo home runs on the first pitches they saw, giving the Bucks the early 2-0 lead.
Elk Lake starter Brayden Miller settled in nicely after that as Miller and Dunmore starter Max Forgione treated fans to a classic pitchers duel, with only two walks in the entire game.
Both teams struggled to get baserunners as the score remained the same until the top of the sixth.
Alden Felker reached on an error leading off and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Miller, cutting the Dunmore lead to 2-1.
The Warriors would get the tying run to third base in the top of the seventh, but Forgione ended the game with a strikeout to preserve the 2-1 victory for Dunmore.
Miller was hit with the tough luck loss, turning in a solid performance. He pitched six innings on 82 pitches, allowing two runs, on five hits and a pair of walks, while striking out six.
Braydon McMicken (2-4) and Dawson Sherman (2-3) led the Warriors with a pair of singles each.
Felker (1-3) had a single and scored a run, while Austin Brown (1-3) had the other Warrior hit and Miller got an RBI with a sacrifice fly.
