SOFTBALL: RORI GURN POWERS MONTROSE TO 8-6 WIN OVER LACKAWANNA TRAIL (2025-05-08)

MONTROSE - The Lady Meteors used a six run fourth inning, then held on late to defeat Lackawanna Trail 8-6 on Thursday evening. Senior Rori Gurn smacked a pair of clutch doubles, driving in a team high three runs to help lead her team to victory.
Jocelyn Traver earned the win in the circle, striking out six in her seven innings of work. She allowed six unearned runs, on six hits and a pair of walks.
Montrose found themselves trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the fourth. MycKenna Kublo started a six run uprising with a leadoff double.
Alyse Legg followed with a one out single, then Allison Jennings was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
With two outs Gurn stepped to the plate and gave her team momentum, delivering a huge double to score Violet Conning and Legg.
Traver then singled to bring Jennings in, knotting the game at three. Kyleise Kublo scored Gurn with a single, giving the Lady Meteors their first lead of the ball game.
Cara Evans scored Traver with a single, then M. Kublo made it five consecutive two out hits, scoring K. Kublo in the process, giving her team the 6-3 advantage.
Montrose pushed across a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Conning led things off with a double and later scored on an error off the bat of Krisalyn Welch.
Gurn again delivered a clutch two out double, this time scoring Welch, putting Montrose up 8-3.
The score remained the same until the top of the seventh. The Lady Lions scored three runs and had the tying run at second when Traver got a game ending strikeout, securing the 8-6 victory.
Traver (3-3) led the Lady Meteors 13 hit attack with three singles, while driving in a run and scoring another.
Gurn (2-3) provided the thunder with a pair of doubles, good for three RBI's and a run scored. M. Kublo (2-4) had a double and a RBI.
K. Kublo (2-4) and Evans (2-4) each had a pair of singles and drove in a run, while K. Kublo also scored a run.
Conning (1-4) smashed a double and scored a pair of runs, while Legg (1-3) had a single and scored a run. Legg and Jennings also scored a run apiece.
