BASEBALL: BRADYON McMICKEN PITCHES GEM, NOAH GESFORD TALLIES FOUR HITS AS ELK LAKE BEATS SUSQUEHANNA 7-3 (2025-05-05)

SPRINGVILLE - Elk Lake got consistency at the plate Monday evening as they pounded out 11 hits and scored runs in five of their six at bats en route to a 7-3 win over Susquehanna at home.

Braydon McMicken was dominate on the mound, throwing 97 pitches over six innings of work to notch the win. He allowed an unearned run on four hits and three walks, while fanning 11.

John Heitsman worked the seventh, striking out a batter. He gave up two unearned runs on two hits.

Travis Rooney took the loss for the Sabers. He pitched five innings, allowing six runs - four earned on nine hits and one walk, while striking out five.

William Marcy pitched an inning, giving up an unearned run on two hits and a walk, with a pair of strikeouts.

McMicken scored the first run for the Warriors, leading off the bottom of the first with a double and later scoring on a two out single from Noah Gesford.

The Sabers answered with a run in the top of the second, Parker Overbaugh reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch to knot it up at one apiece.

Elk Lake retook the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom half. Logan Ayotte led it off with a walk and later scored on a Max Hollett single.

McMicken plated Heitsman with a sacrifice fly, giving Elk Lake the two run advantage.

They would make it 4-1, adding a run in the bottom of the third. Alden Felker and Noah Gesford hit back to back singles, Felker later scored on a sacrifice fly from Dawson Sherman.

McMicken, Melker and Gesford would each notch a single in the bottom of the fourth, helping the Warriors tack on two more runs for the 6-1 lead.

Brayden Miller singled with one out on the sixth and later scored as Gesford tallied his fourth hit of the ball game to make it 7-1.

Marcy and Rooney each knocked a single in the top of the seventh as the Sabers scored a pair, but Heitsman closed the door, securing the Warriors 7-3 victory.

Gesford (4-4) had four singles and a pair of RBI. McMicken (2-3) had a double and a pair of runs driven in.

Felker (2-4) also had a multi hit game and collected a RBI. Hollett (1-3) also drove in a run, while Heitsman (1-3), Miller (1-4) and Ayotte each scored a run.

Rooney (3-4) led the Sabers offensively with his three hits and a RBI. Marcy (1-3) scored a run and drove one in.

Matt Callender (1-2) and Nate Oropallo (1-3) had the other hits for Susquehanna, while Overbaugh and Alex Krayeski each scored a run.
