BASEBALL: ZIGGY BRADFORD DELIVERS GAME WINNING HIT AS MOUNTAIN VIEW SNEAKS PAST MONTROSE 5-4 (2025-05-01)

SusCo Sports Report
KINGSLEY - Mountain View and Montrose played a back and forth game Wednesday evening. The Meteors took an early lead, but the Eagles clawed back to tie it, then pushed a run across in the sixth to get the 5-4 win.

Montrose tapped Cj McGee for the start, while the Eagles went with Jagger. They both hit rough patches early, but then settled in nicely treating fans to a good ball game.

It was Montrose jumping out to the 3-0 advantage after the top of the first. Adam Sorensen led it off with a double.

Kasey Casey walked and Lukas Cokely was hit by a pitch, loading the bases with nobody out.

Sorensen and Carey both scored on an error off the bat of Hudson Aukema. Cj McGee brought Cokely home with a RBI groundout, making it 3-0.

The Eagles would get one back, as Ziggy Bradford led the inning off with an infield single and later scored on a wild pitch, cutting the Meteors lead to two.

McGee connected for a one out single, Andrew Brown would bring him in with an RBI single, recording his first varsity RBI.

Aidan McCloskey, Josh Miller and Jordan Jagger each hit a single in the bottom of the third, helping the Eagles score three runs to tie it up at four apiece.

Jagger and McGee traded zeros on the mound in the fourth and fifth innings. Jagger also worked a scoreless sixth.

Hudson Bain reached on an error to start the sixth, Jeremiah Tweed followed with a single, but McGee got back to back strikeouts of the eight and nine hitters as he looked to pitch out of trouble.

Bradford had other plans however, lining a 2-2 pitch up the middle to score Bain and give his team the 5-4 lead.

Bain came on in relief for the seventh, Aukema greeted him with a single, but was erased trying to stretch it into a double for the first out.

Bain would then induce consecutive groundouts to preserve the win and earn the save, as the Eagles win a tight one 5-4.

Jagger earned the win, striking out six and throwing an even 100 pitches in his six innings of work. He allowed four runs - two earned on five hits and two walks.

Bain worked a scoreless seventh to get the save, he allowed just a hit in the frame.

McGee pitched well, but was saddled with the loss, he also threw 100 pitches over six innings of work. He gave up five runs - four earned on seven hits and a walk, while fanning nine batters.

Bradford (2-4) and Miller (2-3) each had multi hit games, while driving in a run and scoring once.

Jagger (1-3) also drove in a run, while McCloskey (1-3) scored a run. Tweed (1-2) had the other Eagle hit, while Gesford and Bain each scored once.

Aukema (2-4) had a double and a pair of RBI's, while Sorensen (1-1) also doubled and scored a run.

McGee (1-4) crossed home once and drove one in, while Brown (1-4) had a RBI and Carey (1-3) and Cokely each scored a run.
