CARBONDALE - Mountain View pounded out 13 hits, including eight in the sixth and seventh innings as they scored eight of their 11 runs in the final two frames to earn the 11-7 victory over Carbondale Wednesday evening.
The Eagles found themselves on the wrong side of a 7-3 score entering the sixth inning. When Hudson Bain started a rally with a leadoff double.
Jeremiah Tweed followed with a single, after Bain scored on a passed ball Nick Beach walked and Ziggy Bradford singled.
Gesford smacked a single to score both runners to make it a one run ball game. Josh Miller tied it up with a clutch two out single that scored Gesford.
Jordan Jagger shut the Chargers down in order to get the Eagles back up with momentum in their favor for the top of the seventh.
Jagger, Bain and Tweed rapped consecutive hits to start the inning, with Jagger scoring on Tweed's knock to give the Eagles the lead.
Bain would score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Aidan McCloskey and Tweed scored on an error off the bat of Gesford. Ian Briechle later scored on a passed ball to make it 11-7.
Bain came on in relief for the seventh and surrendered a leadoff single, but then retired the next three batters, with two strikeouts to give his team the 11-7 win over the Chargers.
Miller (3-3) was perfect at the plate, while driving in a pair of runs and scoring once.
The freshman also started on the mound going four and one third, allowing seven runs - five earned on eight hits and a pair of walks, while striking out three batters.
Jagger (2-4) had a double, scored a run and drove one in. He got the win on the mound, notching a pair of strikeouts and allowing one hit in his one and two thirds innings of work.
Bain (2-4) also had a double and scored a pair of runs. He pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Gesford (2-4) had a pair of RBI and scored a run. Tweed (2-4) scored once and drove a run in, while Bradford (1-4) scored three times.
Briechle (1-4) had the other hit for the Eagles, he also scored a run. McCloskey scored a run and had a RBI, Holtsmaster also had a RBI.
