SOFTBALL: MONTROSE POUNDS OUT 15 HITS TO DOWN BLUE RIDGE IN FIVE INNINGS (2025-04-28)

MONTROSE - It was a pitchers duel for the first three and a half innings Monday evening in Montrose. However the Lady Meteors used an eight run uprising in the bottom of the fourth to roll to a 14-4 five inning victory over Blue Ridge.
Montrose slugged 15 hits, with seven being of the extra base variety, including a home run from freshman Kyleise Kublo.
Hailey Carpenetti hit a one out single in the top of the first and later scored on a groundout off the bat of Mel Bloomer as the Lady Raiders took an early 1-0 lead.
Blue Ridge added another run in the second when Abby Piechocki laced a two out triple scoring Bella Shea for the 2-0 advantage.
The Lady Meteors finally broke through with a run in the bottom of the third as Cara Evans led it off with a single and later scored on a Violet Conning double to make it 2-1.
Montrose used four singles and a pair of doubles to help them score eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game with a 9-2 lead.
Piechocki reached on an error to start the top of the fifth, she would eventually score on a Carpenetti triple. Carpenetti scored on a sacrifice fly from Bloomer.
The Lady Meteors scored five runs without an out in the bottom of the fifth to end it with a final score of 14-4 in five innings.
Jocelyn Traver struck out a half dozen Lady Raiders in her five innings of work. She allowed four runs - three earned on four hits and a walk.
Alyse Legg (2-4), Allison Jennings (2-4) and Rori Gurn (2-4) each had three RBI's. Legg scored twice, while Gurn and Jennings each scored once. Jennings had a double and a triple and Legg doubled.
Violet Conning (2-2) had a double and a triple to go with a pair of RBI's and two runs scored.
MycKenna Kublo (2-4) finished with a run scored and a pair of runs driven in to go with a double.
K. Kublo (2-4) scored a run and drove one in on her homer, while Traver (1-2) scored twice and Hannah Fearnley (1-2) scored once.
Carpenetti started in the circle for Blue Ridge, she allowed two runs - one earned on four hits and three walks, while striking out four batters.
Trista Laude worked an inning, she surrendered 12 runs - five earned on 11 hits and two walks, while fanning a batter.
Carpenetti (2-3) stroked a triple, while scoring a pair of runs and driving one in. Piechiocki (1-3) had a triple, scored once and drove one in.
Hailey Champang had the other hit for the Lady Raiders. Bloomer had a pair of RBI's and Shea scored a run.
