SusCo Sports Report
SPRINGVILLE - Elk Lake came into their game Friday evening against Holy Redeemer winners of 11 straight and undefeated in the month of April. Elk Lake held a 2-0 lead after six, but saw it slip away in the seventh losing a well played game 3-2.

Brayden Miller had another great start for the Warriors as he kept Redeemer off the board for the first six innings.

The junior struck out seven on 101 pitches over six and two thirds innings. He allowed two runs - one earned on four hits and two walks.

Noah Gesford pitched a third of an inning, giving up an unearned run and a hit to get saddled with a tough luck loss.

Elk Lake out hit Redeemer eight to five in the contest, with each team committing one error apiece.

Braydon McMicken led off the bottom of the first with a hit and later scored on a RBI groundout off the bat of Alden Felker.

Both starting pitchers would trade zeros on the scoreboard in the second, third and fourth.

The Warriors pushed another run across in the bottom of the fifth. Cohen Orlandini walked to start the inning.

He was erased on a fielder's choice from John Heitsman, but Heitsman would later score on a two out single from Miller to make it 2-0 Warriors.

Miller came out for the seventh, struck the first batter out, then hit the next batter to bring the tying run to the plate.

Miller fanned another batter for the second out, but was lifted after giving up a two out single to put the tying run on base.

Gesford came on in relief and plunked the first batter, then gave up a single with Redeemer scoring three runs on the hit after an Elk Lake error.

Miller and Felker each singled in the seventh, but the Warriors failed to bring them in, losing their first game in nearly four weeks 3-2.

Miller (2-3) and Dawson Sherman (2-3) collected half of the Elk Lake hits, with Miller driving in a run.

McMicken (1-3) walked and scored a run, while Felker (1-3) walked and had a RBI.

Gesford (1-4) and Orlandini (1-2) had the other Elk Lake hits, while Heitsman scored the other Elk Lake run.
