BASEBALL: JOSH MILLER COLLECTS THREE HITS TO HELP LEAD MOUNTAIN VIEW OVER CARBONDALE 7-5 (2025-04-24)

KINGSLEY - Mountain View starting pitcher Hudson Bain settled down after a shaky first inning, allowing only one run in his final five innings of work as the Eagles came from behind to win 7-5 over Carbondale Thursday evening.
Bain gave up three runs in the first inning, with all three runs scoring with two outs.
The Eagles clawed back with a pair of two out runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Josh Miller, Tanner Holtsmaster and Jordan Jagger hit consecutive singles to make it 3-2.
The Chargers used an error, a single, a walk and a sacrifice fly to score another run in the top of the second.
Bain settled in after that, getting some help from his defense in the third as the Eagles executed a double play to end the inning.
Mountain View carried the momentum over to the plate as they scored a pair of runs to knot the score at four.
Miller reached on an error to get the rally started, after two quick outs Bain and Blake Norton each drew a walk.

Bain was the beneficiary of some help again on defense as Holtsmaster gunned down a would be base stealer to end the top of the fourth.
Ziggy Bradford led the bottom of the fourth off with a double and later scored on a passed ball.
Bain worked a perfect fifth inning to maintain the one run lead for the Eagles.
After Mountain View was held scoreless in the bottom half of the fifth, Bain worked around a pair of Charger baserunners in the sixth to keep them off the board.
The Eagles pushed a pair of insurance runs across in the bottom of the sixth. Jackson Gesford walked to get things started.
Miller followed with a single that scored Gesford. Tweed later delivered a clutch two out hit to score Holtsmaster and give his team a three run cushion.
Gesford relieved Bain in the seventh, Carbondale would score a run and have the tying runs on base, but Holtsmaster snared a pop fly behind the plate to secure the 7-5 win for Mountain View.
Bain picked up the win, striking out a pair of batters over six innings. The junior threw 98 pitches allowing four runs - two earned on seven hits and three walks.
Gesford got the save pitching the final inning. He allowed an unearned run, a hit and a walk.
Miller paced the offense tallying a trio of singles, scoring twice and driving a in a run. Bradford had a pair of hits, including a double and scored a run.
Jagger and Tweed each had a single and a RBI, while Holtsmaster singled and scored a pair of runs.
Bain had the other hit in the Eagles nine hit attack, while Gesford walked and scored a run.
