SOFTBALL: MARISSA HORN HITS HOMER AND NOTCHES THIRD WIN OF THE WEEK IN THE CIRCLE AS ELK LAKE DEFEATS WYOMING AREA (2025-04-23)

EXETER - Elk Lake continued their busy week with a non league game against Wyoming Area Wednesday evening. The Lady Warriors used a five run fifth to break a 1-1 tie, then plated two more in the seventh to win 8-6.

The Lady Warriors pounded out 10 hits and took advantage of four Lady Bison errors, including two in the fifth inning uprising.

Wyoming Area starting pitcher Alexa Gasek sat the Lady Warriors down one, two three in the top of the first.

The Lady Bison started the bottom of the first off with back to back singles and later scored a run on a single by Marissa Giardina.

Elk Lake was held without a hit until Marissa Horn smacked a solo homer run with two outs in the third to tie the game at one apiece.

With the score still tied entering the fifth, Taylor Traver started the rally reaching on an error, Lydia Howell followed with a single.

T. Traver scored on an error off the bat of Hannah Howell, then courtesy runner E. Burke scored on a double from Horn.

Leah Traver smashed a triple to center that scored H. Howell and courtesy runner Piper Keeney. Brynn Warriner brought L. Traver in with a RBI groundout to make it 6-1.

Wyoming Area got a pair of runs back, capitalizing on a trio of defensive miscues for the Lady Warriors, making it a three run ball game.

The Lady Bison started the bottom of the sixth inning with five consecutive hits, scoring three runs in the process to tie knot it up at six.

L. Traver reached on an error leading off the seventh, Warriner followed with a walk, then Aleece Greenley singled to load the bases.

L. Traver and Greenley would later come into score on an error of the bat of Celeste Clark to give the Lady Warriors a two run cushion.

Horn retired the Lady Bison in order, including a strikeout to end the game as the Lady Warriors show some resolve winning a tight game 8-6.

Horn pitched a complete game in the circle, striking out six batters. She allowed six runs - four earned on 13 hits and one walk.

Horn also smacked a homer and a double, driving in two runs and scoring once. L. Traver had a pair of hits, including a triple. She scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Maddy Ely also had a pair of hits for the Lady Warriors. Greenley and H. Howell each had a hit and scored a run.

Warriner had a single and drove in a run, while L. Howell had a single. Clark had a pair of RBI's.
