BASEBALL: CHRIS McGEE TOSSES COMPLETE GAME GEM AS MONTROSE CUTS DOWN CARBONDALE (2025-04-22)

CARBONDALE - Montrose tallied 16 hits and scored 10 runs in the final three innings to pull away from Carbondale Tuesday evening, winning by a final of 11-2.
Christopher McGee needed just 87 pitches to hurl a complete game gem. He allowed just two runs and six hits, while fanning 10 batters and allowing only one walk.
The Meteors trailed 1-0 heading into the third, but manufactured a run after Lincoln Brander recorded a one out single and later scored on an error off the bat of Kasey Carey to tie it at one apiece.
Montrose went quiet in the fourth and found themselves trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth, when Brander led off with a single, but was then caught stealing for the first out.
Adam Sorensen smacked a double, then scored when Carey hit s triple into right field. Hudson Aukema drew a two out walk to extend the inning.
McGee and Alex Stoddard each came up with a clutch two out run scoring single to put the Meteors ahead for the first time all night by a score of 4-2.
Keaton Kildare started the top of the sixth with a single. After two quick outs, Carey walked and Lukas Cokely was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Aukema plated three runs with a single to blow the game open. He would later steal home to make it 8-2 after six.
Montrose used singles from Chase Harman, Kildare, Brander, Carey and Cokely to push three more runs across in the seventh.
McGee needed just 10 pitches to finish the game out in the bottom of the seventh, striking out a pair as the Meteors earn the 11-2 road win at Carbondale.
McGee and Brander led the Meteors 16 hit barrage with three hits apiece. Brander drove in a pair of runs and scored twice, while McGee drove in a run.
Carey, Kildare and Stoddard each had two hits, with Carey and Kildare each scoring twice. Carey also had a triple while driving in a pair, Stoddard drove in a run as well.
Aukema had a single with three RBI's, while Sorensen, Cokely, and Harman each had a hit and scored a run.
With the win the Meteors improve to 7-5, they travel to Forest City on Friday.
