SOFTBALL: MONTROSE FALLS LATE TO LACKAWANNA TRAIL (2025-04-21)

FACTORYVILLE - The Lady Meteors scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie, but Lackawanna Trail answered with five runs of their own and held on to defeat Montrose 8-6 Monday evening.
Montrose kicked themselves with a host of errors allowing seven unearned runs to cross home plate.
The Lady Meteors out hit the Lady Lions 12 to five, however Trail took advantage of eight walks to score half of their runs.
Montrose scored a pair of two out runs in the first, when MycKenna Kublo, Violet Conning and Alyse Legg hit consecutive singles, with Kublo and Conning scoring on Legg's hit.
The Lady Meteors struck for another run in the third. Kyleise Kublo led off with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Cara Evans.
The Lady Lions scratched their first run across in the bottom of the fourth, using three walks and a hit to score to make it 3-1.
Trail got their first two runners on to start the bottom of the fifth. Aubrie Pinney brought them both in with a single to knot the score at three apiece after five innings.
Jocelyn Traver singled leading off the top of the sixth. She would later score on a single off the bat of Rori Gurn. Kublo later singled Gurn home to make it 5-3 Montrose.
Trail responded with five runs in the home half to take the 8-5 leading heading into the final inning.
Conning scored a run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Lions earn the hard fought 8-6 victory.
K. Kublo and Legg each had three hits, Legg drove in a pair of runs, while K. Kublo drove one in and scored one.
M. Kublo and Conning each had a pair of hits, Conning scored twice and M. Kublo scored once.
Traver and Gurn each had a single and scored a run, Gurn also drove in a run. Evans drove a run in with a sacrifice fly.
Traver went the distance in the circle, striking out five. She allowed eight runs - one earned on five hits and eight walks.
