BASEBALL: MILLER & HOLTSMASTER LEAD MOUNTAIN VIEW PAST FOREST CITY (2025-04-14)

FOREST CITY - Mountain View scored runs in every at bat Monday evening, needing just five innings to dispatch of Forest City and notch the 15-3 mercy rule victory.

Mountain View took advantage of five Forest City errors to score seven unearned runs to pull away early. 

Freshman Josh Miller started on the bump, hurling 45 pitches in his two innings of work. He allowed three runs - one earned on four hits and a walk, while striking out a batter.

Hudson Bain worked the next two innings, striking out a trio of Foresters and walking one. Jordan Jagger pitched the final inning striking out one and allowing a pair of hits.

Forester starting pitcher Jeremy Slick plunked Ziggy Bradford and Miller to start the game.

Bradford scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jagger, Miller would score on an error off the bat of Tanner Holtsmaster.

Blake Norton scored courtesy runner Ben Millard with the second sacrifice fly of the inning to make it 3-0.

The Foresters answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Slick and Evan Oniel each recorded a hit and later scored on an error.

Miller smacked a double in the top of the second, scoring Ian Briechle and Bradford. Miller would also score on an error to make it 6-2.

Holtsmaster rekindled the rally with a one out hit and later scored on a double by Jackson Gesford.

Bradford, Miller, Holtsmaster and Gesford each singled in the top of the third as Briechle, Bradford, Miller and Jagger each crossed home as their lead swelled to nine.

Max Urbas cracked a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the third. The Foresters would put two more runners on via the walk in the inning, but failed to score again.

Miller singled and Jagger walked to start the fourth. Holtsmaster delivered a run scoring double  to get Miller home.

Jagger would later score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bain to get the Mountain View lead to double digits.

The Eagles scored two more runs in the top of the fifth without a hit as they drew four walks and took advantage of an error to score their runs.

Jagger gave up a pair of one out singles in the bottom of the fifth, but then got two consecutive  fly balls to end the game with a final score of 15-3.

Miller and Holtsmaster each had three hits with a double. Holtsmaster drove in four runs, while Miller scored four runs and drove in three.

Gesford had a pair of hits, including a double. He also drove in a pair of runs. Bradford had the other Mountain View hit and scored three runs. 

Jagger walked twice, scored a pair of runs and drove one in. Millard scored three times, Briechle twice and Nicholas Beach scored a run.
