TRAVEL BASEBALL: SUSQUEHANNA RIVER RATS COMPETE AT DOME SERIES IN WILKES-BARRE (2025-04-05)

WILKES-BARRE - The 12u Susquehanna River Rats competed in a tournament at the Dome in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. The River Rats have players from Elk Lake, Montrose, Wyalusing, Tunkhannock and Towanda.

The River Rats finished with a 1-2 record on the day. In their first game against the Lumberjacks, they were no hit in a 9-1 loss, with Kipton Ruark scoring the lone run.

They would win their second game against Triple Cities Empire in dramatic fashion, when Parker Sands lined a one out single into left to score Silas Brooks for the 7-6 walk off victory.

Ruark picked up the win on the mound, hurling 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk, while striking out five batters.

Ruark also led the charge on offense, belting a homer and adding another hit, to go with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored.

Chase Vallone also collected a pair of hits, including a double. He drove in a pair of runs and crossed home safely twice.

Parker Sands, Noah Shaffer and Jake Fauxy each had a single. Sands and Trenton Miller each drove in a run. While Miller, Shaffer, Aiden Lunger and Silas Brooks each scored a run.

In their final game of the tournament the River Rats were defeated 11-7, after digging themselves a 6-0 hole before getting an at bat.

Miller had himself a game, smashing a pair of home runs and notching three hits. He also had three runs batting in and scored a pair of runs himself.

Sands had a pair of hits, including a homer out of the leadoff spot, driving in two runs and scoring one. Ruark and Ridge Hoover each stroked a double, while Silas Mooney singled for the other River Rat hits.

Mooney also drove in a pair of runs, while scoring a run. Lunger, Hoover and Fauxy each came around to score a run as well.

Hoover started on the mound and was saddled with the loss. He Pitched into the second inning before giving way to Sands. He surrendered eight runs on six hits and three walks.

Sands pitched well to keep the River Rats in the game. He went three innings, allowing no runs on three hits and a walk, while fanning five.

Mooney hurled the final inning, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk, striking out a pair.
