BASEBALL: BRAYDEN MILLER & JOHN HEITSMAN COMBINE FOR ONE HIT SHUTOUT AGAINST BLUE RIDGE (2025-04-02)

SPRINGVILLE - Elk Lake needed only four innings to score 14 runs, tallying half in a seven run third inning uprising on their way to the 14-0 shutout win over Blue Ridge Wednesday evening.
The Warriors took advantage of 12 free passes at the plate and six Blue Ridge errors to score 14 runs on just six hits.
Brayden Miller got the start and the win for the Warriors. He pitched four innings, allowing a hit and two walks, while strikIng out a half dozen Raiders.
Heitsman worked the final inning, giving up a walk to go with a strikeout to finish off the shutout for the Warriors.
Brendan Marvin got the start on the mound for the Raiders. He pitched 2.1 innings, giving up nine runs - six earned on four hits and three walks while striking out a batter.
Matt Davis went the final 1.2 innings allowing five runs - one earned on a pair of hits and three walks, he also had a strikeout.
Dawson Sherman had a pair of hits, including a double, driving in four runs and scoring once to lead the Warriors offense.
Brayden Miller, Alden Felker, Noah Gesford and John Heitmsman each had a hit. Felker had a pair of runs driven in. While Miller, Gesford and Braydon McMicken each had one.
McMicken, Gesford and Nathaniel Thurman scored two runs apiece, Heitsman and Cohen Orlandini each touched home safely once.
Michael Smith had the lone hit for Blue Ridge leading off the game with a double.
The Raiders committed three first inning errors, allowing the Warriors to score a pair of runs on just one hit.
Miller struck out the side after allowing a leadoff walk to start the second.
The Warriors again scored a pair of runs on just one hit, a run scoring single off the bat of Gesford.
Elk Lake got five free passes and a trio of hits to tack on seven runs in the home half of the third inning.
In the bottom of the fourth Elk Lake loaded the bases with nobody out, when Felker lined into the tough luck double play.
After Gesford reached on an error, Sherman delivered the final two runs of the ball game, driving in a pair with a double into left field.
Heitsman got a double play and a strikeout to end it in the fifth, with the Warriors claiming the 14-0 mercy rule victory.
Elk Lake improve to 3-1 with the win and will travel to Mountain View on Friday. Blue Ride falls to 0-3 and will host Montrose on Friday.
