BASEBALL: BLUE RIDGE DOWNED BY MID VALLEY IN SEASON OPENER ON THE DIAMOND (2025-03-24)

THROOP - The Blue Ridge Raiders baseball squad opened their season on the road, facing a tough Mid Valley opponent. The Raiders bats were stymied by Spartan pitcher Carter Musewicz as he held the Raiders hitless in the 15-0 three inning game.

Brayden Smith walked with one out in the first, which would prove to be the only Blue Ridge baserunner in the contest.

Mid Valley pushed crossed six runs in the home half of the first, with the Raiders committing three errors during the Spartan rally.

Musewicz sat the Raiders down in order, striking out the side in the top half of the second inning. 

The Spartans would score four - two out runs in the bottom half to take control with a 10-0 lead.

Blue Ridge were retired in order for the second consecutive inning. Mid Valley tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the third to end the game under mercy rule 15-0.

Blue Ridge committed five errors on defense, leading to nine unearned runs. Brendan Marvin got the start, going 1.2 innings giving up eight runs - three earned on four hits, two walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Gehrig Dibble hurled two thirds of an inning, surrendering six runs - three earned on two hits, a walk and three strikeouts.

Smith recorded the final out on the bump for the Raiders, giving up one run on one hit and a walk.

The Raiders return to action Friday, when they travel to Wyoming Seminary for the 4:30 start.
