DISTRICT SWIMMING: BRYNN WARRINER CLAIMS GOLD & BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD FOR ELK LAKE (2025-02-28)

SusCo Sports Report
WILKES-BARRE - It was the first day of the District II Swimming Championships Friday and the Elk Lake Warriors had a great day in the pool. The girls brought home eight medals, while the boys added another.

Brynn Warriner claimed a gold medal and set a new school record in the girls' 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.96. With the win the junior will qualify for the PIAA Swimming Championships.

I asked Warriner how it felt to win a district gold medal, "Ecstatic, I love it so much, it brings so much confidence to me, it's my junior year so I'm hoping to shave off more time and get another gold medal next year."

Hannah Howell captured a bronze medal in the girls' 200 Freestyle, the senior finished with a time of 2:07.61.

Howell and Warriner were also part of the girls' 200 Freestyle Relay team, along with Chelsea and Allison Grosvenor.

The Lady Warriors quartet narrowly missed a gold medal, earning a silver in a tight race with a time of 1:42.36, they also qualified for the PIAA Swimming Championships.

A humble Howell was thankful for her bronze medal, but it was her memories with the team that meant the most to her.

"Though I'm very fortunate to get a bronze medal in the 200 Freestyle, a medal can't compare to all the amazing memories I have with this team."

As for the silver medal in the relay Howell had this to say, "I am so grateful to be able to swim with this group of girls, we have put in so much work to get to where we are, and so happy for what we have accomplished."

Allison Grosvenor took home a fifth place medal in the girls' 100 Butterfly finishing in 1:04.19

Chelsea Grosvenor rounded out the Lady Warrior medal winners in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.35, good enough for sixth place.

Isaiah Jones brought home the only medal for the boys, turning in a time of 1:54.31 in the boys' 200 Freestyle to garner a fifth place medal.

Before the swimming started today they handed out the medals for the diving competition that took place last weekend.

The Lady Warriors had two girls place high enough to receive a medal, Lily Rauch and Maddie Smith earned a fifth and sixth place medal respectively.

Swimming resumes tomorrow at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School at 11:00.
