BOYS BASKETBALL: SABERS SEASON ENDS WITH A LOSS TO LACKAWANNA TRAIL (2025-02-19)

FACTORYVILLE - The Sabers hit the road for their quarterfinal game against Lackawanna Trail Wednesday night. Susquehanna's offense sputtered in the first and third quarters, allowing the Lions to defeat them 47-34.
The Sabers managed just a pair of field goals in the first quarter, with Mason Keyes connecting on both. The Lions put up a dozen points of their own to lead 12-4 after one.
Susquehanna outscored Trail 12-10 in the second, Keyes hit three more field goals, tallying six points.
Rykin Hobart, Griffin Fisk and Jordan Burke each added a bucket. Heading into the halftime intermission they trailed 22-16.
The Sabers struggled to find rhythm after the break, mustering only six third quarter points. Linden Baker buried a three, Keyes made a basket and a free throw.
Trail put up 14 points on the home side of the scoreboard in the third to increase their lead to 14 after 24 minutes of play.
Susquehanna notched 12 points in the final frame, Hobart converted a three point play on an and one, totaling five points in the fourth.
Keyes drained one from behind the arc and added another from inside for his five points, Fisk hit a bucket to round out the Sabers offensive effort.
The Lions scored 11 points to maintain a comfortable lead throughout the fourth quarter. When the final buzzer sounded it was the Lions moving on with the 47-34 victory.
Keyes led all scorers with his 18 point performance, Hobart finished with seven. Fisk added four points, Baker had three points and Burke chipped in with a pair.
Jake Antolick paced the Lions offensive attack scoring 17 points.
Susquehanna finishes the season with an overall record of 8-15, but they gained valuable experience playing in a plethora of tight games.
Coach Lawrence Tompkins returns four of five starters next year, so the Sabers should be right in the thick of things in not only the league but the district as well.
